Azie Shelhorse is an interior designer and artist based out of Montclair, NJ. She is the co-founder and CEO of {verdigreen} and Chief Creative Officer for {verdigreen} hotels and residences. She is an accomplished interior designer with experience in both hotel and residential spaces, and has collaborated on projects with Marriott, Highgate Hotels, Aparium Hotel Group and DiamondRock Hospitality.
She and her husband, Travis Shelhorse, opened their storefront {verdigreen} (verdigreen.com), a design-focused indie home furnishings shop and painting studio, in 2010.
Azie and her best friend/business partner, Beth Scura, launched fringe (fringevibe.com) in 2016, a full-service interior design studio specializing in energy-centric residential and commercial interiors. Fringe designs have been featured in several publications including Forbes, Travel & Leisure, House Beautiful, and the New York Post.
Ms. Shelhorse has a creative arts background and her design work has been featured in a number of publications, including Elle Decor, Lodging Magazine, Hotel News Now, InspireDesign, Travel & Leisure, Forbes Magazine, Architectural Digest, Montclair Magazine, and Domino Magazine. She been one of the 70 New York City area designers featured in Housing Works’ Design on a Dime benefit in each of the past three years, and has a strong social media following.
Ms. Shelhorse’s style incorporates maximalism, the reuse and redesign of furniture, and natural elements, with a focus on creating atmosphere. Her talent for putting together disparate components and making them work transcends conventional wisdom.
Ms. Shelhorse’s unique problem solving capabilities, combined with her decisiveness, balanced by her ability to quickly adjust to feedback, allows her to create one-of-a-kind results with unmatched efficiency. She considers her design style original and approachable and enjoys collaborating with clients to create an aesthetic that best reflects their individuality.
Azie's pastimes include painting, traveling, and spending time with her partner, Travis, and two sons.
